During his earlier appointment with Eastern Health, Dr Chin was responsible for mentoring and supervising both advanced and basic trainees in Respiratory and General Medicine. He played a role as local examiner for the Royal Australian College of Physicians Clinical Examination, and contributed as clinical tutor for both Deakin and Monash Universities medical students.
Dr Chin has published in national and international journals in various topics on Respiratory and General Medicine. Apart from English, he also speaks four other major languages Mandarin, Cantonese, Hakka and Malay. He is genuinely caring, has excellent listening skill and impeccable bedside manner.
Professionally, Dr Chin specialises in the diagnostic and management of a broad range of pulmonary diseases including asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, pulmonary fibrosis, lung nodules, and pulmonary infiltrates. He sees patients with undifferentiated chronic cough, shortness of breath, lung masses, hemoptysis (coughing blood), pulmonary embolism (blood clot in lung), and lung health screen including lung cancer screening.
Skill-wise, Dr Chin is adept in diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopic procedures such as bronchial washing, bronchoalveolar lavage, endobronchial biopsy, endobronchial brushing and transbronchial biopsy.
He also has special interest in Peri-operative assessment and management, providing medical support to patients pre and post surgery, working alongside surgeons of various specialities, including but not limited to cardiothoracic, orthopaedic, urology, neurosurgery, vascular, and gastroenterology, in the private hospitals.
